My name is Victoria Fragoso, but you can call me Toya! I'm a creator from Tacoma, WA, with a passion for crafting songs out of thin air. I'm a proud mom to a joyful 5-year-old. As a second-generation Mexican-American, I value art, hard work, and innovation. I'm a multi-instrumentalist, playing ukulele and keys, both solo and with my band Ghost in Glass, alongside fellow singer-songwriter Trusty Sea Creatures (Jonny Mahler), bassist Brian Templeton, guitarist Blake Tomasch and drummer Marcus Pomeroy. I'm devoted to fostering an inclusive and safe music community. Since 2021, I've been hosting a podcast where I interview independent artists from Olympia to Seattle and beyond, such as Champagne Sunday, Rocky Sandoval & Lovely Colours. Tune in to Instagram every Tuesday at 5 PM PT to catch me live on "Tuesday with Toya"! My dedication to connecting audiences with local talent extends beyond the digital space. I've organized and hosted showcases at Sleight of Hand Cellars SODO since 2022 and open mics at ALMA Mater under the name of "Grit City Grooves". I also co-founded the Cascade Music Alliance with Brittany Danielle, handling booking, social media, flyer graphics, and logo creation before stepping away in 2023. With Robert Richter and the Local Roots Music NW radio show, I continue to support and promote the incredible talent in the PNW. Local Roots just celebrated its 10th Anniversary and airs on 5 stations 6 days a week. We invite PNW artists to submit their music at localrootsmusicnw.com. Our in-person Songwriter Series can be found at Ross Island Cafe & Grocery every 1st Friday (hosted by Megan Alder) and hosted by myself at McDuff's Cafe Highlands in Tacoma every 3rd Friday* and Sleight of Hand Cellars SODO. I'm deeply committed to the songwriting craft, releasing original music every 6-8 weeks with local producer/studio owner Quinton Davis. Still, navigating the spotlight hasn't come easy to me. While battling depression and PTSD, music has been my constant companion, helping me connect with myself, express my truth, and inspire others to embrace creativity in their lives. I write music to evoke and process emotions, and I hope when you hear my music, you feel something too. © 2024 Victoria Fragoso Villarreal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqzMDfQDCeQ
